The inspiration to write a blog combining my musings on working and volunteering for charities with my love of walking struck when I was doing just that – walking a total of 2,500 miles in 2022 with my friend Celia, in aid of Dementia UK. This year’s target is a little more modest – 23 miles a week in 2023 – and I’ve not tied it to a specific fundraising goal. But it does give me plenty of time for reflection, listening to podcasts and enjoying my surroundings. So, in this blog I’ll be sharing some of my observations, highlighting the work of brilliant local charities here in York and further afield and hopefully sparking some interesting conversations.
